About an hour southwest of Los Angeles and 20 minutes south of LAX is the city of Redondo Beach, California.  I visited one warm breezy day after driving up the coast from San Diego the day before, in a cute and powerful Buick Encore, my chariot for my tour of the Pacific Coast.

I arrived at Redondo Beach early in the afternoon.  I took a walk around the King Harbor Marina leisurely in search of a place to have a nice lunch. The atmosphere is super chill. Everyone seems to be taking their time to do whatever it is they are doing in whatever time it takes to do it.

The rocky pier and deep blue-green water with small mountains in the distance provides a relaxing backdrop for a laid back day.  I chose Sea Level at Shade for my midday meal and cocktails.  The food was tasty and fresh.  The service was on point.  And the drinks were refreshing and strong, two was enough for me.  I appreciate a well made margarita. I left satisfied.

I found a spot and sat and wrote a journal entry.  Then I went to a place to get some souvenirs.  I got a shot glass from there to add to my collection.

I wish I had taken more photos of the architecture in the area.  Redondo Beach has a quintessential California beachy, good vibrations feeling, it feels inviting.

I never got to the actual beach part. I would like to go back for that and to stay in one of those cottages to see what the interiors are like.  I found Redondo Beach charming and chill, that’s a good combination.
