Twenty minutes from Dakar’s airport sits a series of small seaside villages in a cove off the Atlantic’s African coast. Amoung those villages is an area popular with French expats called Toubab Dialaw. In Toubab Dialaw there are markets – like Superette La Fidelite, resorts – like Sobo Bade and the Iris Hotel and restaurants – like Cafe Theiboudienne, that cater to that forgeign crowd. The village sits on cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, giving an excellent vantage point to view the incredible sunsets on the western horizon. It is also known as an artisanal village, with resident artist working in multiple mediums including canvas paints, jewlery making, shoe making, and word working. Their work provides a bounty of souvenirs to purchase for you and your friends and family.
